FASS can help group members access a number of different workshops and courses either provided directly by ourselves or in partnership with other organisations.
Depending on the size of group and type of workshop/course we may even be able to deliver it direct to your group.
An example of some of the courses we can offer are:
Help Me Grow
A 6 week child development training programme. This programme is aimed at Kinship Carers, Parents and Carers of a child 12 years and under. Bringing parents/ carers together to share experiences on growth and development of the child they are caring for, whilst promoting and encouraging the carer/child relationship.
Naloxone Family Training
Naloxone is an opiate overdose reversal drug and can safe a life. The training is available to family members, friends or anyone who may come into contact with someone at risk of an opiate overdose. The course can be delivered to any group of 3-12 people at a location suitable to you. Attendees can either have a 30 minute training session explaining the signs and symptoms of an opiate overdose and how to administer Naloxone or a 2 hour course which covers all these areas in more detail and includes CPR training with Annie Doll demonstration. Participants can receive a Naloxone Kit following the training.
Bereavement Resource Pack Training
Training for service providers who may come into contact with someone who has lost a loved one through a drug related death. This awareness session covers topics such as understanding the complexities involved in a drug related death, raising awareness of the impact on family and friends, considering the impact behaviour, language and attitudes may have on families and highlighting some of the available resources to help support those who have been bereaved through a drug related death.
A 2 day training course for FASS Volunteers, covering areas such as confidentiality, boundaries and duties. The course also give in depth training on FASS and the many services that can be offered to families affected by a loved one's drug or alcohol problems.
Training for group committee members to ensure that they are meeting their roles and requirements.
Training on how to complete successful funding application forms.
Due to the high uptake of workshops/courses we advice group members to keep themselves updated on available vacancies via our website, newsletter and monthly members meetings. all course/workshops must be pre-booked.
